About Sophie
In 2013 I was injured during military training and found myself under the care of a team of doctors, physiotherapists and physical training instructors. It was there I experienced first hand the profound effect that a multidisciplinary, holistic approach to the treatment of injury can have. Within 3 months I had re-entered full time training and I went on to serve for 7 years as a British Army Officer, where I used the exercises and strengthening techniques taught to me by the physios I met during rehab to ensure that I remained injury free. It was this experience, combined with a lifelong passion for animals, that led me to study veterinary physiotherapy after leaving the army.
Prior to joining the army I completed a biology degree at university and subsequently went on to manage professional competition yards both in the UK, and in New Zealand before moving to work in business consultancy in London.
Having seen the benefit of marginal gains in the corporate world, the military sphere and also on my own personal journey with rehabilitation I am passionate about the practical application of evidence based research and believe that clinically reasoned physiotherapy, as part of a multidisciplinary team can have a huge effect on quality of life and performance. I endeavour to work as part of a team of professionals, along side veterinary surgeons and nurses, farriers, equine dentists, hydrotherapists, chiropractors and trainers to ensure that the very best outcome is achieved, whether treating injury, improving performance or simply maintaining quality of life.
